2013 Coach Game Summaries

Berthoud 17-13 WIN
It was a tough game that came down to the last play on defense.  The boys played hard and refused to lose.  Eric Kembel had a huge touchdown catch and then had the biggest catch of the game when he stepped in front of a pass in the endzone to intercept Berthoud's pass to secure the win.  Thanks for all the fans that made the trip!
Brush 22-14 Loss
Another Morgan County Game is in the books.  It was a hard fought game by both of the teams.  Brush got the win but the boys did not stop playing till the very end.  It was great to see Legion packed with a rumor of over 4,000 in attendance.  Very cool atmosphere!  Thanks again for the support and are looking forward to next week!
Thompson Valley- canceled FLOOD WINS!
Skyline 14-2 Loss
This was a tough day for the Mustangs.  We did not play well and we will bounce back.  We thank all the parents for making the trip on Saturday to watch us.  To Skyline's credit they came out and played well enough to get the win.  Time to get back to working on the little things and let the big things take care of themselves.  We believe!
Denver North 38-8 Win
It was a cold and wet homecoming game on Friday night.  We thank everyone that braved the weather to come and support the boys.  The challenge was set for the entire program for the coaches to coach better and the boys to play with fire and excitement.  We feel that we did that and now have to get ready for league.  Englewood is 3-2 and are doing some really good things on film.  We have to be ready to play for 4 quarters again.  It once again will be a cold game with a chance of snow!!  We will play as a family and hope to see everyone that can make the game on Friday.
Metro East League Games
Englewood 42-12 Win
It was not as cold as we thought it was going to be. The boys came out ready to play and hit Englewood early and finished strong.  There were a lot of big plays that got the Mustangs an early lead.  Defense got a score from Lopez pic six.  Jared Bohm got in the endzone for the first time this season as well.  Time now to focus on Skyview.  They are ready to come to legion field and try to throw it all over the field on us so we better be ready to play hard.  We hope to see everyone out there at Legion for the game!
Skyview 42-18 WIN We had some mistakes that we need to clean up this week.  A scrappy Skyview team came into legion and played hard.  Our boys responded after a 7-6 first quarter to go on 35-0 run to make it 42-6 after 3 quarters.  We have a huge game this Friday when the ELizabeth Cardinals come into town.  They are a very good football team that are ranked 3rd in the State and 1 in our league.  They are good but so are we!  We need everyone there on Friday night at Legion!

Elizabeth 31-6

Very tough Senior Night at Legion Field.  Elizabeth is a very good football team and did what they needed to get a win.  The program was disappointed but are ready to bounce back this week for Weld Central.  Weld Central is a good football team that runs the ball well.  We will need to play assignment football and play 11 as 1 to get the job done.  Hope everyone can make the short trip down to watch us Friday Night!
Weld Central 21-0 WIN
The last Friday Night Game of 2013 is in the books.  For our seniors it was the last time they get to play under the lights in a Mustang Uniform.  Glad to see the boys step up the challenge and bounce back after a tough loss the week before to get the big win.  We were told after the game that our sidelines were a class act and best they have had all season.  It is always good to hear that people recognize the type of young men we have on this team.  Last regular season game is this Saturday at noon down at Vista Peak.  A very much improved team that is playing for the same spot we are in the post season.  A win by either team gets them a shot at playing next week.  We will need everyone to step up and play their best.  Hope to see everyone on Saturday!
Vista Peak Prep 29-18 WIN Backs were against the wall at half time.  Vista Peak jumped out to an 18-0 half time lead.  Several fans admitted to turning off the radio and some doubts were if the Mustangs would come back.  Challenges were set and the boys decided that the regular season would not end without a fight.  A great comeback in fact one of the best in Fort Morgan History with the game ending in a 29-18 win.  We did not make playoffs again but if we had to end the season we could think of a better way.  Thank you for all that came to game and thank you to the boys for believing in the program and refusing to lose!
